Data and Knowledge Management

Question: What is Data and knowledge management? Answer: Background The research assignment will focus on data and knowledge management that will lead the organization to huge success. This way, the research report will focus on the idea of the research that will help to meet the success for the organization. Data management is the procedure of controlling the data created amid an exploration venture. For each of these focuses, there are generous observational proof and also hypothetical thoughts connecting them to data knowledge management disappointment. If its not too much trouble note that these components are not recorded in place of vitality, nor does anyone causal variable compare to a particular resultant element. (Cisco, 2009) Knowledge about the subject helps in performing the task in the best possible manner. the individual can apply the know-how and improve the quality of the work. For this, it is essential to have clear understanding about the task. The knowledge posed by individuals varies from each other, and it is related to the products, experience, and other factors. Experienced individual possess efficient knowledge through which the values related to the task can be developed and implemented. It is possible to analyze the challenges and provide the best solution through which the system can be sorted out in the best possible manner (Hoover, 2008). Knowledge management helps in analyzing the relevance of the data and implements the same for decision making process. Accurate knowledge would help the management in making the right decision that will cater the needs of the company. Application of knowledge depends upon the objectives and preferences of the company. This is one of the reasons, the management is recommended to adopt and implement the right strategies through which the task can be accomplished on a timely manner. Also, it is possible to develop new structures through which implementation process can be simplified. In this method, it is necessary to adopt new methods through which the capability of the products and services can be improved. The management needs to highlight the critical areas that need to be worked upon by the management(Arma.org, 2009). Abstract Data management is the storage of records analysis and it is the reconstruction of recent events as inputs for decision-making. It comprises a range of practices required by an organization such as an enterprise. The difference between the data and information is debatable and it aims to deal with the research and make proper knowledge that the goal of knowledge management has the ability to integrate information from various approaches to deal with the insights associated with valid decision-making. (Lamont, 2012) Through effective data management system, the company can analyze the importance of different components like the methods, engineering process, and individuals on the performance of the system. The workforce concentrates on the employees and innovation methods that have been adopted by the company. Both the components have to be analyzed, as this will help the management in selecting the better options that would cater the needs of the company. It is essential to develop effective relationship between the individuals and the engineering methods that has been adopted by the company. This will help in analyzing the risks and other factors that can impact the performance of the strategies. The information management system has to be used effectively, as this will help the management in deciding the areas of concerns. Through this process, the management can work on different strategies for developing control process. This has been done to avoid the exploration venture, which can affect the performance of the plan. The observational analysis has been done to analyze different types of thoughts that are related to the vitality and it is quite often related to the resultant. In this process, the variables has to be analyzed, as this will help in developing the best strategies that would help in the implementing process (Reeep.org, 2013) Introduction Through data management and knowledge is related to implementing the process for enhancing the privilege learning method. The strategy adopted would be able to help the management in handling the unpredictable issues that can affect the performance of the company. Through this method, it is possible to implement the best corporate method that would improve the understanding about the tasks that needs to be performed by the individuals. The change that has to be made in the performance of the company has to be analyzed in the right manner. In this case, the authoritative parts are analyzed and implemented in the right manner. with the help of the learning management process the management of the company can introduce effective information system, which will help in impacting the knowledge in the right manner. It is also possible to handle issues related to stockpile and refinement process (Airccse.org, 2013). With the help of the data management and knowledge management system the company can ensure to introduce the best system through which the use of knowledge can be improved. It is essential to introduce an effective method for improving the learning methods, which will take care of the needs of the company. The process helps the management to gain from the past performance. Information resources can be re-conveyed and used for various purposes. This is one of the most important factors that would help the management to upgrade the skills that is required for execution of the task. I some cases, it is necessary to use information generated from department in executing the task with the other department. For this, the management can introduce an effective learning method that would simplify the process. In this case, the users will be able to make use of the privileged skills that surpasses the expectations of the old learning method. The company can develop effective strategies through which the capacity to perform can be increased. Learning process can be simplified and made effective, as this will help the staffs (Informationpolicy.iu.edu, 2009) Literature Review Dynamic stream of knowledge management is developed in the organizational knowledge development theory and the importance of business is to realize the importance of new knowledge based on the existing knowledge. Organizational knowledge development depends on the content with the organization and explicit knowledge. They play an important role in knowledge creation and encourage promoting employees to be innovative. (Kobielus, 2009) Definitions of knowledge The improvements in knowledge management promote important factors such as superior performance in the organization. The understanding of the term is evolved in the literature where the first concept is associated with management of knowledge as an organizational resource. Knowledge is a mix of experience that offers the framework of new informations and experiences. It can also become the information. (Maches, 2010) The theoretical concept is developed with the major concern of knowledge management and it is an important extension to information management. It describes the decision that combines with external knowledge and internal knowledge is externally marketed. Thus the theory believes continuous management that depends on the intellectual capital that motivates knowledge managers to deal with knowledge exchange among organizational members and other key members. (Perez, 2009) Successful knowledge management strongly depends on organizational behavior and the research imports creativity, innovation, learning and capabilities. (Baskerville Duplipovici, 2006) Data Knowledge Management Retention: Data knowledge management system helps in drafting the best policies through which the knowledge management process can be upgraded. In this case, the company adopts and implements an effective verifying method that will upgrade the skills of the data knowledge management system. Information maintained system helps the company to perform different tasks in the right manner, without comprising with the quality. Data Knowledge Management Systems: Through this method, it is possible to handle the uncertain issues that can impact the performance of the company. The process for imparting, production, and revelation of the information for data management can be simplified. However, the challenges that can impact the performance of the system are with the hierarchy process that has been adopted by the company. This usually happens when there is no acknowledgment system (Otero, et, al, 2010) Data Knowledge Acquisition: The company can make the best use of the data or the knowledge that has been acquired from the suppliers, clients, accomplices, and others. The acquired knowledge can be used for analyzing the type of changes needs to be introduced by the company for improving the quality of services that has been proposed to be provided to the clients. The changes that need to be implemented by the company can be drafted and introduced in the right manner. through this process, it is possible to introduce privileged method or channels that can be used for exchanging the information that would help the firm to develop. In this case, the data knowledge management system has to be incorporated in the best possible manner (Talbot, 2009). In order to use the data management and the knowledge management make use of the below mentioned tools Introducing an effective IT systems Projects Socialization and interaction methods Involving the partners in the execution of different tasks At the time of deciding the data and the knowledge management system, it is necessary to analyses the expectations of the company. This is done with an intention of reusing the information for introducing the changes within the business operational activities. with the help of the sub-section, it is possible to handle different departments in the right manner (Naresh, 2013). Knowledge sharing It is concerned with knowledge development that helps to increase the potential of the organization. The main activities contain knowledge sharing as transmission and absorption. It contains the effectiveness of knowledge use and different means to share knowledge in the organization would be training, problem-solving, discussion, information technology uses etc. (Hulbert, 2014) Through knowledge sharing process, the management develops a link between the know-how implications and its understanding. In this case, the knowledge possessed by different individuals is used for the best purposes. The knowledge is gained through experience and analyzing different situations at the workplace. In this case, the experience, data, values, and other factors are used to assess the relevance of the data. The knowledge of the individual is analyzed, so that the same can be used in the best possible manner In this case, the standards and process that would have to be followed needs to be determined (Roggero, 2013). Information: The information that is collected is analyzed in the form of data, so that the same can be used in the best possible manner. In this process the data are computed and consolidated in the right manner. It is necessary to use the data in the right manner, as this will help in making the right decision. Methods The managerial concerns that are related to the techniques, initiative, or administration task have to be analyzed. Such an analysis is done with an intention of improving the managerial performance that would help in implementing the changes that are required for enhancing the quality of the works. In this method, it is essential to make the best use of the resources that are available in the form of information. The management would be able to collect the data and use the same in the best frameworks. The exploration is done in the form of the behavioral factors, which will help in introducing the changes that are required to make the best use of the data management system (Wayne, 2011). The non-experimental tasks that are considered in the research work have to be experimented. This will help in using the data in the best possible manner. such data will be used for conducting the critical subject exploration that is necessary for the conduct of the research work. With the help of the research routines like the activity check and others the data management system can be best implemented. The hypothesis has to be analyses, as this will help in using the information in the right manner. The valuable information has to be used for the sake of sharing the details and other information with the staffs of the company. Through such process the company can differentiate between the important information. Such strategies would help in selecting the best option that will cater the needs of the management. In some cases, the management might need specialist help that would help in finding the answers to the questions that are considered to be imprint for the management. In case of activity exploration, the company needs to introduce different systems that would improve the quality of the information gathering and other factors. The collected data can be used for improving the quality of tasks that has been planned to be performed by the company. Further the data helps in conducting research work (Dick, 2000). In case of fizzled activities, the learning management frameworks have to be decided. This will help in finding the alternative solutions to the problem that can affect the performance for the company. The issues are identified and the best use of the knowledge management system has been introduced by the company. The research work has been conducted to find the benefits that are associated with the process of introducing the best steps. With the help of the activity exploration method, the company selects the best method for exploring or honoring the data management system (Ankara, 2005). The study also reveals the efforts that need to be introduced for improving the research process. The action that needs to be taken for improving the research work is analyzed. This would help in selecting the better options that will take care of the needs of the company. (Baskerville Wood-Harper, 1996). Research design In this research, the researcher will mainly focus on creating improvements to ensure proper data management and integration. The researcher will follow the methods and analysis of qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative methods are known as scientific method depends on particular questions and interviews. The questions are meaningful for achieving information and other analysis. Quantitative method: This method helps to generate the views and responses for the defined question and the result is also dependent on the data analysis. Questionnaires form the important information. Sample size of the research helps to denote the term reliability and it also measures data collection. The sample size of this research has been taken the 50 numbers. There were 50 respondents for this research analysis and responses. Research questions Does knowledge known as a global success factor? How knowledge management improves the organizational culture and structure? Does knowledge management improve the companys ability and learning? Hypothesis H0: Data and knowledge management improves business performance and creates success in the organization. H1: Data and knowledge management does not improve business performance and does not create success in the organization. Data collection methods The researcher mainly seeks information in accordance to manage the data and knowledge in the organization. The researcher will focus on interviews and other methods to deal with the results and findings. Interviews: It is the face to face perspective that helps to collect the information on the major subject. It is the excellent approach that deals with the information of the respondents. This deals with the major sources of data that leads to success with respect to the research questions and interviews. Questionnaires: Questionnaires develop the primary data to deal with the outcomes that strongly depend on the reliable sources to meet the objectives by the help of questionnaire method. This aims to know the views and information collected by the respondents. The questionnaires are importantly designed with reliable information that offers important conclusion. Therefore, to deal with the interview methods and questionnaires are easy and to get the data collected from respondents is also expensive. Survey method: The most important method of data collection is known well as survey method and the responses from the respondents would be collected either by emails or through face to face interaction. This approach would be the useful approach and there might have enough time to complete this information successfully. These surveys would be completed by companies, employees or other members of the organization. Observation method: This is the critical approach of data gathering that requires important information. It brings successful approach in terms of information and other offers. Validity of the research: The validity of the research is the major critical factor that meets the researcher to be developed in the survey. Every process in the research has met the proper guidelines and the interview that has been gathered with the individual views and opinions offered by the respondents to deal with the research validity. (Brodkin, 2014) Discussion Every research has its shortcomings and limitations. There were limitations with primary and secondary research and the findings based upon the secondary data and primary data. The secondary data involves limitations and the responses of the respondents play an important role when the response of the respondent is positive with respect to research questions and analysis. Conclusion can be developed via primary research methods and questionnaires could be filled directly but due to less amount of time, the research was not successful with reliable information. Therefore the evaluation of the questionnaire is done with the approach of research. Ethics of the research Every research follows some ethics and there are many barriers to deal with the respondents. Research ethics helps to deal with the major roles of the researcher to collect the data and information. The researcher will deal with the ethics that requires to be followed to provide security to the respondents by providing confidential personal informations. The researcher is well known that the ethics has been followed and the respondents are motivated to deal with the valid data and proper information. (Boyd, 2013) Results and findings With the help of observations and interviews, the result will be presented in the form of figures and charts. As per the analysis, it has been found that the data and knowledge management has important benefits such as exchange of information, knowledge acquisition, information, administration management, business performance, innovation and learning as well as capacity. Data and knowledge management With the help of above diagram, the figure identifies the fact as per the research analysis, 50 respondents were extremely satisfied with the data and knowledge management techniques available in the organizations. Sharing of knowledge With the above diagram, it is illustrated that 43 numbers of respondents were extremely satisfied with the sharing of information with data and knowledge management and only 2 respondents were average satisfied with this option. Knowledge acquisition With the help of the above pie chart, the researcher is able to find out that 48 respondents believes knowledge acquisition is the major parameter where the firm is able to gain data and knowledge remotely from clients, suppliers, contenders, accomplices, and mergers. (Sutton, 2009) Information With the help of the above figure, it is found by the researcher that 47 respondents are extremely satisfied with the category that knowledge and data management provides information to the respondents followed with 1 and 2 respondents who were satisfied and average satisfied with the information that is being gathered with data and knowledge management. Administration As per the above represented pie chart, the researcher found that there were 49 respondents who were extremely satisfied with the administration in the business and this generates business performance and creates high value with the data and knowledge management. Thus it has been discussed that there were maximum number of respondents who were extremely satisfied with the approaches known well for data as well as knowledge management. (Popsci.com, 2013) Business performance With the help of above diagram, it has been found that 45 numbers of respondents were highly satisfied with the level of business performance that could be gained through data and knowledge management. 2 respondents believed that they were average satisfied with the fact that business performance could be achieved through data management. Learning and capacity With the help of the diagram above, the researcher believed that 50 respondents were highly satisfied with the parameter known as learning and capacity thus they believed that data and knowledge management could lead to strong learning and high capacity to the organization and its members. Innovation With respect to the diagram above, it has been found that maximum number of respondents was extremely satisfied with the fact that data and knowledge management will help the business to lead to innovation. (Theguardian.com, 2014) Conclusion Data and knowledge management is basically about getting the privilege learning to the privilege individual at the privilege time. This in itself may not appear to be so intricate, however it suggests a solid attach to corporate procedure, understanding of where and in what structures learning exists, making methodologies that compass hierarchical capacities, and guaranteeing that activities are acknowledged and backed by authoritative parts. The attention is on extremely data management abilities, however with specific specializations. Case in point, in his experience inside engineering administration, they ought to have taken off new arrangements and went about as a contact in the middle of business and innovation. Sisyphus Essay Example For Students

Sisyphus Essay The Myth Of SisyphusRyan ClairEnglish LiteratureThe myth of Sisyphus was a paper written by Albert Camus to show that life has no ultimate meaning. This goals of men and woman are false and in the end humans really accomplish nothing. Camus represented his idea of existentialism through the use of Sisyphus. This allows us to see a comparison of a mythical tale and the real world. Albert Camus feeling towards existence was that humans were not supposed to be living in the world. Camus believed that there was a sense of absurdity for human existence. Human beings cannot feel at home in a world where chaos, death, and suffering are present. A world designed for humans would have meaning, life, and order. The world that humans presently lived in was not the real home that they should be in. The world was indifferent to the problems facing humans, thereby making humans living unwanted inside of their own universe. Camus uses Sisyphus as an example of how he believes life on earth is really taking place. Sisyphus is forced to roll the heavy rock up the mountain only to find that it rolls all the way back down and making all his work for nothing. Camus believed that this was similar to human life, through all the activities and events throughout our lives we merely accomplish nothing in the end. We work hard and try to achieve goals, but these goals are meaningless in the whole time that makes up our life. Camus believes that Sisyphus is an absurd hero because he believes that he can succeed which ultimately allows for his punishment. If this myth is tragic, that is because its hero is conscious. Where would his torture be, indeed, if at every step the hope of succeeding upheld him? Camus feels that Sisyphus who is a conscious human being exemplifies the lives of many humans on earth. The people feel that they can succeed and accomplish things during their lives, but in the end they die without ever solving the problems they once faced. This is similar to how Sisyphus would endlessly try to accomplish his goal of getting the rock to the top of the mountain only to have it roll back down again. This absurdity can be understood through the comparison of Sisyphus and the lives of many people living around the world. False goals and events throughout life cloud peoples vision that nothing is truly ever accomplished. Sisyphus was sentenced to life of reaching one goal, which could not be me t, and this was his punishment as is many people doing the same thing on earth. Camus beliefs stemmed from the horrors of World War Two. He saw all the suffering and poverty that he had lived through and been surrounded by. This gave him a basis for existentialism, which created significance behind the choices that a person makes throughout their lives. Camus saw how people were put thrown horrible situations on earth and this gave him the idea that humans were merely put onto the earth without a predetermined life. The choices that humans made no difference to the world, the suffering and injustice was just another choice that was made by a person. The world did not respond but merely went on without having any feedback. Humans tried to apply meaning to life but found that the world did not allow for it. Humans were the only entities that tried to insist on having meaning in their lives. It absurdity makes of fate a human matter, which must be settled among men. .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0 , .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0 .postImageUrl , .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0 , .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0:hover , .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0:visited , .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0:active { border:0!important; } .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0:active , .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0 .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u4445c303ca1b1ec8a7fb7d8209e6cde0:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Homelessness Is Not An Option EssayCamus feelings of injustice in the world and life without meaning resulted from the problems with himself and surrounding him. The suffering he saw made Camus realize that the world went on while people were living in horrible situations. People were aspiring to unreal goals which meant nothing in the whole face of life. The creation of existentialism resulted from World War Two which gave meaning to the choices that humans made. Although there was no meaning in life, people try to apply meaning to it, while there is really no meaning at all.

7 Grammatical Errors That Arent

7 Grammatical Errors That Arent 7 Grammatical Errors That Aren’t 7 Grammatical Errors That Aren’t By Mark Nichol There are two types of grammar: Descriptive, which describes what is customary, and prescriptive grammar, which prescribes what should be. A tension between the two systems is inevitable and healthy; it keeps us thinking about what we’re saying and writing. Allowing mob rule at the expense of some governing of composition is madness, but a diction dictatorship is dangerous, too. As with any prescription, an overdose is contraindicated. Here are some hard pills to swallow for language mavens who require a strict adherence to rigid syntactical patterns at the expense of, well, language: 1. Never split an infinitive. It isn’t wise to always ignore this fallacious rule against dividing the elements of the verb phrase â€Å"to (verb)† with an adverb, but to blindly follow it is to prohibit pleasing turns of phrase one of the best known of which is from the introductory voice-over from all the Star Trek television series: â€Å"to boldly go where no one has gone before.† (The original series, produced before the more recent sensitivity to gender bias, put it â€Å"no man.†) 2. Never end a sentence with a preposition. This rule is ridiculous, to start with. If you believe it, please tell me what planet you are from. What are you striving for? Give it up. Am I getting my point across? The stricture against closing sentences with words that describe position stems from an eighteen-century fetish for the supposed perfection of classical Latin, which allowed no split infinitives for the excellent reason that Latin infinitives consist of single words. English, however, being a distant relative of that language, should be allowed to form its own customs. 3. Never begin a sentence with a conjunction. And why not? For an honorable tradition of doing just that exists. But some people persist in prohibiting this technique. Yet we defy them. Or we simply ignore them or laugh at them, neither of which they appreciate. Nor do they understand our attitude, though we try to convince them, and will continue to do so. So there. The words beginning each of these sentences are conjunctions, easily recalled with the mnemonic FANBOYS. Every one is perfectly acceptable at the head of a sentence. As is obvious from the previous paragraph, however, a little goes a long way. 4. Distinguish between while and though. Petty prescriptivists would have you reserve while for temporal usage only: â€Å"While I agree, I resist,† they say, should be revised to â€Å"Though I agree, I resist.† I freely admit that I often change while to though, and while I understand I’m sorry, I can’t stop myself and though I understand that it may seem pedantic, I think though reads better. 5. Distinguish between since and because. Ditto. And ditto. I concur that indiscriminate replacement of since with because may seem persnickety, but since ahem because I find the latter word more pleasing, I will reserve the right to prefer it. 6. Use data only in the plural sense. Where did they get this data? The alternative is to use datum in the singular sense, which makes you sound like a propellerhead. (Look it up, kids.) People who say â€Å"datum† get data, but they don’t get dates. 7. Use none only in the singular sense. None of these rules, followed strictly, allow for a vernacular ease with language. Did that sentence hurt? Did the waves stop crashing to shore? Did Earth stop spinning? If you wish to replace none with â€Å"not one† or â€Å"no one† (â€Å"Not one person admitted guilt†; â€Å"No one saw that coming†), by all means, do so, but fear not none in a plural sense. Generalized Anxiety Disorder essays

Generalized Anxiety Disorder essays Comparison of Generalized Anxiety Disorder A good way to understand a personality disorder is to compare it to the norm. It allows a person to contrast the differences in the disorder to the average by showing you both sides of the personality. Rather than solely focusing on the disorder, discussing the norm helps people to understand what aspects of the disorder are abnormal and what aspects are found in standard personalities. The personality disorder that I am going to compare to the standard in this paper is Generalized Anxiety disorder. To do this I am going to recount an experience that I have had, and then interpret how a person suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder might deal with the same experience. Generalized anxiety disorder has a number of specific traits. The main trait is excessive anxiety and worry. This type of anxiety and worry should be occurring more days than not for it to be considered this type of disorder. Some of the other characteristics include restlessness, being easily fatigued, difficulty in concentrating, irritability, muscle tension, and disturbed sleep. When most of these symptoms are evident it is fairly clear that that individual most likely suffers from Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Several weeks ago, I was asked to go on a trip with one of my really good friends from Cincinnati. She had asked me to fly down to Tampa with her to spend the day at the beach and then to attend this party that she had been invited to. It was very short notice and the flight to Florida was departing at nine thirty the following morning. It was also going to be a very short trip and we would be leaving Tampa at ten oclock on the same day that we arrived. It was a very exciting opportunity and I wasnt going to pass on this spontaneous way to spend a Saturday. Besides having to pack I also had to find some way to get down to Cincinnati, which was about an hour and a half away, that...

Internal Analysis of the NBA - Assignment Example These are some of the questions that the paper will attempt to answer. The best approach to internal analysis of NBA will be discussed. The approach will assist in the analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of NBA. The paper will begin by analyzing the capabilities and resources NBA had before the 2010-2011 season; the analysis will be from a case study done by Coulter. The capabilities and resources in the 2010-2011 seasons will be analyzed. The best approach to internal analysis of NBA will be discussed. Resources and Capabilities NBA Has As Of the 2010-2011 Season The Resources and Capabilities before the 2010-2011 Season (The Case Study) The National Basketball Association (NBA) has undergone tremendous changes from a domestic sport to an international commercial sport and this indicates a major understanding of the resources and capabilities. All the success and efforts are attributed to the NBA commissioner David Stern who has helped NBA become a global brand. Professional bask etball began in the mid-1990s and NBA gained the international game appeal. There are key players in the NBA who have sparked international interest. These players include Yao Ming of China, Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzi of Germany, Pau Gasol of Spain, and Tony Parker of France, Denver Nuggets of Brazil, Gordan Giricek of Croatia and Darko Milicic of Serbia. All the mentioned are international basketball players. It is estimated that out of all the players in the NBA, 64 players come out of the United States territory. Other than the international players, NBA has taken its games globally. The NBA league has held several preseason games in the Latin America, Asia and Europe. Among the major plans by the commissioner of NBA was creation of multiple teams in the European region before the end of the 2000 decade. The NBA league has faced challenges like the retirement of Michael Jordan and the cancellation of almost a third of the league games in the mid-1990s. The challenges a lmost crashed the NBA league. Stern, the commissioner of NBA addressed the issues by looking at what the NBA had top offer, that is the resources and capabilities. He found that NBA could offer consumer awareness of basketball both domestically and internationally, several young talented players and renowned image and a track record (Coulter 132). Among the things that Stern did were: Expand the NBA offices network globally. The reason was to gain the NBA popularity, make it visible to the consumers around the world, sell a vast amount of track records and make several tours occasionally. Enhance the image of the NBA league on the Internet through its web site. It is estimated that about 40 percent of the people who visit the NBA website come from the rest of the world; that is outside the United States (Coulter 133). The Resources and Capabilities in the 2010-2011 Season The External Environment Globalization NBA has utilized the television and commerce to popularize the game globa lly and its influence in the world has been fuelled by marketing and television. The television has allowed NBA to reach many people around the world; it is estimated that NBA league is watched in 212 countries and in 42 different languages. The estimated number of people watching NBA league through the television is said to be over 750 million people. The foreign players in the NBA league are estimated to be around 80 of the 430 positions in the NBA team. This shows how NBA has its touch on the

Mabel Cooper's Life Story Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Mabel Cooper's Life Story - Essay Example ‘Mabel Cooper’s Life Story’ is a heroic tale of a very determined individual who survived in society against all odds. Qs. 1. Discrimination and stigmatization that Mabel encountered during her life Mabel was born to a poor and homeless mother on the 10th of August, 1944 in Islington, London, but was moved into care when she was just four months old. Thereafter, her childhood was spent in different care schools and finally she was moved to St. Lawrence Hospital, Surrey, where she spent the next 20 years of her life. Mabel was discriminated and stigmatized because she had a learning disability and had never been to school and moreover she had a very poor background history. Mabel was told that she was not capable enough to study and so was put in a ward where they learned basket making. They also had the option of working in the laundry or workshops or even remain idle if they wished. A learning disability proved to be a real setback for Mabel and besides not being allowed to go to school, she was also not allowed to use her own clothes or shoes but had to make do with the ones given by the hospital. Though dances were conducted on the premises, they were again segregated with males on one side and females on the other. There were a good number of staff and they had to dance in between them. Mabel and her friends were discriminated from society by not being allowed to go out and mix with the regular people. Money in the form of green coins were given to them but it could only be used in their own hospital canteens and not outside. People who ran away were brought back and put in a ward called G3 where they were locked up as punishment. In this manner people with learning disabilities were discriminated and segregated from society in contemporary Britain. 2. Explain the concept of 'social role valorization' and describe how you would ensure Mabel becomes a valued member of the community. Banks, S (2001) in the book, ‘Ethics and Values in Social Work’ sheds light on the contribution of social workers in fulfilling the concept of ‘social role valorization’. Broadly speaking, people with learning difficulties are looked down upon and discriminated by society for the mere reason that they are much less productive and very little use to the community and society at large. 'Social role valorization' (SRV) is defined as  "The application of what science can tell us about the enablement, establishment, enhancement, maintenance, and/or defense of valued social roles for people" (Wolfensberger, 1995a). The primary goal of SRV is lending support to people in society so as to enable them to enjoy all the good things that society has got to offer. Some of these good things are love and friendship, respect and dignity, acceptance and belonging, good education and status in the society. In the case of people with learning disabilities, it becomes impossible for them to find a valued place in society since th ey are not in a position to contribute to their community and society and automatically become devalued members of society. Hence being devalued members of society, they are not in a position to enjoy the good things in life. On the other hand, such members are rejected by their community and society, and thereby receive a lot of negative responses and in most cases become objects of abuse and violence. SRV is a response to such groups of devalued members and lends great support in helping them to become
